A word or phrase that describes a noun’s features or quality, whether it relates to appearance, texture, sensation, personality and so forth. An adjective is also known as a “modifier.” 형용사 (hyungyongsa) is the Korean word for adjective. The majority of Korean adjectives are unique in that they actually behave quite like verbs.

An adverb is a word that describes a verb, adjective or another adverb. They provide more information about the “how” and “where.”

A part of speech that describes a person, place or thing. Nouns can be real physical objects or abstract concepts and ideas.

Pronouns are substitutes for nouns when it’s already clear what’s being talked about. Personal pronouns are specific to people and are classified as first-person, second-person or third-person.

A verb is a part of speech that describes an action, a state of being or an event.
